In the first round all the contestants performed a cover song of their choice. After that the audience sent Levina, Axel Feige and Helene Nissen to the next round. In the second round all of them performed the first potential Eurovision entry for Germany - "Wildfire".
Axel Feige and Levina made it to the third round where they had to perform the second potential entry called "Perfect Life". After this performance the audience had to decide which candidate and which song should perform once again in the so called "Superfinal". It was possible to vote one candidate with two songs or two candidates with the same song..
In the end it was Levina who made it to the "Superfinal" with both songs. It was already clear from this moment on that she will represent Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kyiv - but which song will she perform?!
After the last performance of Levina it was voting time for the fourth and last time of the evening. As interval acts performed Ruslana (ESC Winner Ukraine 2004), Nicole (ESC Winner Germany 1982) and Conchita Wurst (ESC Winner 2014) a Eurovision medley.
Finally! A long evening came to an end as Barbara Schöneberger announced the final result. Levina will represent Germany in the grand final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 in Kyiv on 13th May with "Perfect Life". This song won against "Wildfire" with 69% of the televotes!
