MALTA: Being Part in 2015 with the national selection in November

Maltas ESC broaadcaster PBS confirmed that Malta will be part of the Eurovision Song Contest next year in Austria. With Malta being the 14th country which its confirmation, the numbers of the 60th anniversary edition of the competition is growing.

This year in November will  be a very special ESC-week for Malta. They will host the Junior Eurovision Song Contest on the 15th of November. It will take place in the venue called MARSA which is like in Copenhagen a former shipyard. And this will be also the venue were they Maltese will crown their entry for the forthcoming ESC one week later on the 22nd of November

As Malta has choosen it's artist with a national selection throughout the last decade in late january or early february, there will be a change in the regulation for this year with the aim to give the broadcaster enough time to choose and - most important - to present a high level performance both in the national selection show and at the ESC in Austria. For that reason PBS brought the event forward into november.

If you wanna participate you have to submit an original song and a cover song for showing the jury your quality of your voice.

To find out more about the regulations send an email to MESC@pbx.com.mt.

Since 1971 Malta took part in the competition and is yet to win the contest. In May the island in the Mediterranean Sea was represented by Firlight with their song 'Coming home' and achieved a 23rd place in the grand final.

Conchita Wurst: Now a model of Jean-Paul Caultier

An ESC-Winner on the catwalk for Jean-Paul Caultier. The designer took her on stage to represent his work of dresses at a show in Paris. It is no secret that Jean-Paul Caultier is a big fan on the Eurovision Song Contest and that he was overwelmed after Conchitas victory in May.

The designer was talking to "The Independent" and explained why he choose Conchita to model for him on the catwalk:

I met Conchita two years ago when she came to one of my couture shows, I loved her look and when I heard that she will represent Austria in the Eurovision Song Contest, I was delighted. When she won I was crazy with joy.
I always say that beauty is difference and Conchita has shown us all that she is unstoppable.
The designer sees Conchita as a new genre, he adores her being a man with a beard full of male energy but still being femine as she is. A unbelievable mix of both. In his opinion it is very brave but beautiful for everyone to live the own life as everyone wants to. But this wasn't the first time Jean-Paul and Conchita worked together. The designer already draft a dress for her for the stage and the dress the artist wear at the Life Ball in Vienna came out of his head.

At the end of the show, which had a morbid touch with models looking like vampires and many candles, the designer went down on his knees to thank Conchita muse. This privilege had Madonna once before. The audiance itself were enthusiastic and give the new catwalk model a big hand of applause.

Monaco will not return to the contest

Also in 2015 the Eurovision Song Contest has to accept that Monaco will not participate. Despite rumours that discussion between artists and the Monegasque broadcaster TMC for a participation are ongoing, now the responsible persons have confirmed of not competing in Austria.

Monaco debuted in 1959 in the contest and won it 1971 with Severin's song 'un banc, un abre, und rue'. Even if they won the contest Monaco didn't host the contest in 1972 and therefore the British broadcaster BBC was ask to held the contest which than took place in Edingburg.

1980 the country decided to withdraw from the contest and returned after 25 years in the 2004 contest with Maryons 'Notre planete'. After that Monaco participates also in 2005 and 2006. With all three songs Monaco in the 2000s didn't qualified for the final and decided to withdraw again in 2007 and hasn't returned since then.

With that decision Monace is the third country which confirmed that they will not return to contest. It joins Andorra and Slowakia in this section. Other countries are still in discussion or try to organize their participation.
