How does it feel to be part of the national selection with your song “Brez Tebe”?
San Di EGO: Thank you very much for congratulations. We are really exited to participate to EMA. In the beginning we were not quite sure, that this could be a good decision, we thought a rock band doesn’t belong to that kind of festival but now we know, this could be an important step in the move toward approaching rock music to Slovenian audience and, who knows, maybe to even largest audience in Europe.Who had the idea that you could participate in the Slovenian national selection and who decided “Brez Tebe”?
San Di EGO:We always take every kind of decision together, we are a band. We think that unity in a band is very important.What is the message of " Brez Tebe "?
San Di EGO: "Brez tebe (Without you)", reveals two sides of love: the happiness of having it and the desperation, when you lose it. Love fills our life, everybody needs it so we decided to participate to EMA with a ballad but we are not going to lose our rock side.Can you tell us something about the beginning of your career, when have you met eacher other?
San Di EGO:We knew each other from other bands and other music project and we had a dream in common: to play rock and only rock! So we created a super band that succeeded in a very short time in Slovenia.
What are you expecting in the national selection “EMA 2016”, are you excited?San Di EGO: Of course we are exited, we think it’s a beautiful occasion, to show that rock is still alive. Our participation to EMA is a sort of mission for us. We would like to share our love for this kind of music and its energy and power.How do you prepare yourself for the show?
San Di EGO: We had a lot of concerts this month and we also organized a pre EMA concert in Ljubljana, it was a great evening. We think that the best way to prepare ourselves is to stay in touch with our music and to share the energy of our music with the audience.Are you Eurovision fans?
San Di EGO: We can’t say we really are fans of Eurovision but we usually like to watch the show (if we don’t have a gig on the same evening) and to support our country, of course.Which are your favorite Eurovision songs and what is your favorite from Slovenian history?
San Di EGO: It’s hardly to say which song is our favorite, there were a lot of good songs in Eurovision history. We can say that we have a great respect for artist, which had an important impact on worlds music scene even after the contest, like for example Abba.What are your first Eurovision memories?
San Di EGO:I guess the biggest memory of the Eurovision contest is about the first slovenian performance, which took place in 1993, which was carried out by 1X Band with a song Tih deževen dan (Quiet, rainy day).
San Di EGO: Yes, our plans for this year are to release a new album (our second), somewhere at the end of the year. In addition, we are also very looking forward to our summer concert season.If people outside Slovenia never heared about you before – what should they know about you?
San Di EGO: That we are very genuine rock band and we do exactly what makes us happy. We really enjoy playing our music, we do it with our heart and we believe our audience feels this positive energy from the stage. This is probably why our performances are known as one of the best in Slovenia.Do you have a message for “Join Us on Eurovision” readers and your fans?
