Eurovision in Concert: Conchita was the 'Queen of Amsterdam'

Conchita Wurst from Austria

Last Saturday this years Eurovision in Concert took place in Amsterdam with 25 Eurovision 2014 participants and three 'Special Guests'.

In the afternoon there was a official 'Press Meeting' with all the participants near the Melkweg. It was a very big 'Welcome' to all European particpants and a huge press interest. Some of the impressions we already shared on our blog and in our Facebook album:

The biggest and most popular Eurovision promotion event was already sold out since some weeks. People from all over Europe came to Amsterdam to join this event to get a feeling what they can expact in Copenhagen.

Hosts of the show were Cornald Maas and Sandra Reemer. Opner from that evening was last years winner Emmelie de Forest from Denmark with her winning song 'Only Teardrops'.

This was the running order for 'Eurovision in Concert 2014':

Block 1:

  • Special Guest 1: Emmelie de Fores from Denmark with 'Only Teardrops' and 'Rainmaker'
  • Belarus - Teo with 'Cheescake'

  • The Netherlands - The Common Linnets with 'Calm After The Storm'
  • Romania - Paula Seling & Ovi with 'Miracle'
  • Norway - Carl Espen with 'Silent Storm'

  • Spain - Ruth Lorenzo with 'Dancing In The Rain'
  • Denmark - Basim with 'Cliché Love Song'
  • Special Guest 3: The Frizzle Sizzle performed 4 songs

The evening was a huge success and with no doubts we can say that our Conchita from Austria was THE QUEEN OF AMSTERDAM this evening! Her song 'Rise Like A Phoenix' could have been a James Bond theme and the audience loved her most. Beside Conchita we saw a lot of very popular performance and this year for sure is full of very strong ballads from countries like Azerbaijan, Belgium, Norway and of course Spain.

You can watch a lot of performances on Eurovision.tv

As the 'Eurovision in Concert' has ended the night has just begun.. It was time for the official Aftershow Party in Odeon. Odeon is a very cool location only some minutes to walk away from Melkweg.

A lot of Eurovision 2014 participants (Carl Espen, Aarzemnieki, Hersi Matmuja, Axel Hirsoux...) celebrated with the European guests till the early morning light. Again we saw performances from Suzy from Portugal, Paula Seling & Ovi from Romania, Tijana from Macedonia took the audience 'To The Sky' again, Freaky Fortune feat. Risky Kidd and as highlight we saw once again Conchita from Austria performing her Eurovision 2014 entry 'Rise Like A Phoenix'.

At the end we can say - THIS weekend was absolutely AMAZING and full of Eurovision feelings.

Till now on 'Eurovision in Concert' never has a winner performed. In Amsterdam was a feeling around that this year this could have changed.. Any idea who could win Eurovision Song Contest 2014 in Copenhagen?

The team from 'Eurovision in Concert' did a fantastic job and brought 25 Eurovision 2014 participants to Amsterdam for one evening. For sure we all are looking forward to 'Eurovision in Concert 2015'!
